Oysters in New Orleans

I am a huge fan of seafood, all kinds of seafood, anything edible that comes from the sea.

Oysters are high up on the list. Didn't fall in love with them until I went to New York years ago, but there I got to try different ones and I loved it. Since then I have oysters whenever I can.

New Orleans is well known for the sea food. So of course I had to try the oysters as well! I had these darlings at Acme Oysterhouse in The French quarters in New Orleans - NOLA. It's supposed to be a classical American place for oysters and seafood (gumbo etc) so I decided to try.

I liked it. But it wasn't special special the way my previous New Orleans meals have been. I'm an avid cook myself and I could have made a much tastier Gumbo myself.

And to be totally honest Louisiana Oysters from the gulf are not bad, buy I do prefer other oysters, other oysters that are more distinct in taste. Seems to me - although I am not an expert, I'm just using my own experience - that oysters from colder waters have more taste. Or at least they are the ones I prefer. The crawfish from Louisiana is marvelous but the oysters are so so.

But again, this is not bad. It's just not... Not so interesting.
But the sauce served with the oysters. That is a great sauce, with lots of garlic and, I believe, some kind of chili.

And for the first time I actually feel that oysters are better with a sauce than just lemon. But that's more because the oysters than the sauce.

Sweet potato fries is on the other hand the best thing ever!
